Tsunami Evacuation Maps

Tsunamivideo Youtube ThumbWelcome to the Tsunami Evacuation Mapping tool.

To find your area of interest in Auckland, select your local board below. From here, select your local area.

If you don't know what your local board is you can click here to find out your local board.

Clicking on your area will take you to a PDF map showing tsunami evacuation zones. There are three evacuation zones: red, orange and yellow.

-       Red covers the beach and adjacent low-lying areas most likely to be hit by a tsunami

-       Orange would be evacuated if there was a medium to large tsunami threat

-       Yellow covers the largest area that would need to be evacuated in the event of a maximum-impact tsunami

Some of the roads for the area are shown as solid black lines on the tsunami evacuation maps. Follow these roads, or the route that is quickest for you (this could be other roads, walking tracks etc.) to high ground in the event of a natural, informal or official tsunami warning.

From here, find a location that is safe for you and your family until the official all clear has been received. This may be with family, friends, neighbours, or in a sheltered area outside of the tsunami evacuation zones.
